My thoughts on fortune telling

Fortune telling is an interesting subject but I have to say I cringe when I have gone on the radio and DJ announces me as a fortune teller, I can hear myself thinking “oh no, don’t call me that”.

Or when I client phones me and asks me if I am a fortune teller. I am courteous and explain that what I really do is simply  connect to either their psychic energy or the energy of spirit to assist in guiding them  along the path of their lives.

Often I refer to myself as a GPS that is picking up the energy and signals of the life and direction you are heading but you can change your own course at any given time.

Why don’t I like fortune telling?

There are many reasons but one of the main ones is that you are telling people what is going to happen, which leaves them no personal choice. It is all set in stone and there is no personal responsibility for themselves. I would hate to feel my life is set in stone, set out for me and I have no influence over that. We do influence our futures to a certain extent.

Do I believe in predictions?

Well yes I do and the reason I do because a prediction is like potential. It is something that may happen in the future. We can change things which I feel is freeing and really nice to know.

We all have free will along with personal choices and our decisions affect what happens in our lives.

I may pick up the ‘likelihood or potential” of something but it is usually never set in stone. So to me a prediction is a possibility. E.G. You could win a  trip to Hawaii and then decided that you don’t want to go or you give it away to someone else. For instance, in the past a psychic has told a person about this trip to Hawaii however when they win it they can decide whether they wish to go or not. We all have choices and free will at any given time.

So what about destiny then?

This is an interesting question and I feel in some cases we are destined to be someone or something but we don’t necessarily full fill it and in some cases we do.  It is like our purpose, we all have one but we have to be part of making it happen and taking actions on the opportunities that come our way. People ask me if we are destined to die at a certain time, I would say there could be some choice about this as well.

For instance you may have a strong feeling not to drive that night or go a certain way and if you take note of that it means you miss out on a serious car accident that could have taken your life.

This has happened to me before.  Also at  one point I felt I was guided to a find out about a serious illness that could had taken my life but I took up on the guidance offered to me and took the necessary steps to stop this from happening. Maybe some people have intuition to see a doctor or get tests and they don’t follow up on the urge to do so. Maybe you make a definite choice not get your medical check-ups done for whatever reason. This is your choice.

I know of a pilot when flying heard a voice telling him to pull up in foggy weather and the instruments suggested he was safe. He pulled the aircraft up and missed a mountain which would have taken his life. These are just examples of how we can change things in our own lives.

Is there some destiny where you cannot change things?

I have to wonder this and I don’t have all the answers, however I believe that 90% of our life is choice and 10% is destiny. The destiny is the framework of the picture and what we choose is within it.  There are most likely some things that we cannot explain or have control over but a lot of our life we do. It is like the prayer “Lord give me the strength to change the things I can, accept the things I can’t and the wisdom to know the difference”.
