So why did I write my book

Many people have asked me this question and I often say “we all have a book inside us” and “we all have a story to tell”. Most of us have interesting lives with turns, twists and have had to learn along the way.
Or we may have a sense that one day we will write our story.
Like you I had a strong sense of this and one day while I was away overseas to do my training in the UK I was approached by my publisher Balabo Press to see if I was interested in writing a book.
For me it just felt the right time for me to share my story with the world and after having a phone interview with Balboa Press they agreed I did have an interesting story to share that could inspire others to live their own life purpose.
I had no idea how to write a book so began to read articles, watched a few Hay House videos and started to get a general idea. Interesting enough as I started to write down my thoughts and formulate pages then chapters, it all started to come together. I had nobody to hold my hand but I enjoyed the process.
One thing I learnt was ideas would just come to you, sometimes in the middle of the night so it was a good idea to write these ideas down as they popped into your mind. Also I realised the only way to complete this project was to organise and discipline my life so I had time to put it all together. So I scheduled times for myself that I was to do nothing by writing.
After 18 months I had put my whole story together and it was time to find and editor and to get feedback about what I had written. This was not easy and the first editor seemed to want to charge me huge amounts of money.
I was lead to a small publisher in NZ who gave me some advice and leads for a really great editor and this made all the difference.
My son also gave some constructive feedback and I knew not to take the negative comments personally because it was for my highest good.
A few days before my book was due for production, I went into a huge panic and nearly pulled the plug on having my book published as I realised my story was out there for the whole world to read and some of it was fairly personal. I was at the gym on the bike talking to my friend when the song came on the radio “the story of my life” I knew it was a sign from spirit that they wanted me to share by story to empower and inspire others, my story needed to be told and some of it would bring healing to others.
Not long after my book was released one of my closest, dearest and honest friends rang me to tell me she had read my book and I knew she would be totally honest. To my relief she said she loved it and could not put it down and from that point on I have had very similar comments so yes I am soon onto my 2nd book.
You too can tell your story too, because if you are brave enough to put it all into words it can often speaks to the hearts of others and help them become in touch with themselves and become more aware.
