Is there a difference between a psychic and a medium?

There is a lot of confusion around these titles and often people are not sure what they are or if there is a difference.
I heard someone in the hairdressers refer to a medium as someone who sends out computer generated message via the internet and my heart sank. As a working medium I felt that was not at all who we are and a very poor representation of what a medium actually is.
So what is the difference between a psychic and a medium?
Firstly it is about understanding each heading individually and what it means.
So we will start with the topic of what is a psychic?
A psychic is a person who is able to pick up on information about another person, living being or situation.
They do this through their senses. Sometimes it maybe be through one, two or all of them and they interact with each other. In other words, visions, feelings, what the hear, smell and taste.
For example a lady could come into see me and I could have a vision of someone doing hair and I smell hairspray and I get the feeling she works as a hair dresser. So through my sense I pick up psychically
what she does as a job.
On the other hand a medium is quite different as they connect with people who have passed over.
Just like it is with a psychic, mediums pick up psychic information given to them from the spirit person so it can be passed on.
It is telepathic communication from one world to the other. The spirit who has passed can impress information upon the medium about themselves that the receiver understands. Also they are able to pass on uplifting messages to their loved ones still here on earth.
There are many types of mediumship but that is a much bigger and deeper subject to go into and can wait for another day.
So do you need to be psychic to be a medium?
I will be discussing this in my next blog..
